On the 1st, KIPO announced that from the 3rd to the 31st of this month, it will jointly recruit participants for the 13th Intellectual Property (IP) Meister Program with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, aimed at supporting vocational high school students in the creation and utilization of intellectual property.

This program is designed to help vocational high school students experience the entire process of proposing improvements to problems that may arise in industrial sites, applying for patents on their ideas, and commercializing them.

Applications can be submitted by teams of 2 to 3 students from specialized high schools or Meister high schools, who submit ideas on tasks proposed by companies or freely chosen tasks through the Invention Education Portal Site.

KIPO will first select 100 teams to receive online education and consulting from professional patent agencies, supporting their patent applications.

Then, 50 teams will be finally selected to receive opportunities for prototype production and technology transfer. All final selected teams will be awarded certificates from related institution heads, including the Minister of Education, the Minister of SMEs and Startups, and the Commissioner of KIPO. Additionally, the top two teams and their supervising teachers will be granted overseas training benefits.

Mok Seong-ho, Director of the Industrial Property Policy Bureau at KIPO, stated, “We will spare no effort to support participating students in growing into convergent talents equipped with intellectual property creation capabilities.”
