The newly opened facility is a complex building with a total floor area of 1,850㎡, consisting of ▲a daycare center (1st floor) ▲Shindaebang Nuri Library (2nd-3rd floors) ▲Dongjak Admission Support Center (4th floor), spanning from basement level 1 to the 4th floor above ground.
The ‘Dongjak Admission Support Center (19, Shindaebang 1-da-gil)’ provides accurate admission information and career and admission counseling on a regular basis to help local examinees succeed in their admissions.
By hiring admission experts, the center plans to design and operate various programs such as ▲1:1 customized admission counseling ▲admission consulting by selection type ▲university student mentoring ▲admission briefing sessions with invited experts ▲special lectures on understanding the high school credit system.
The center operates from Tuesday to Saturday and will run flexibly according to the admission schedule. Any student enrolled in schools located in Dongjak-gu and residents can use the service.

The library will expand its collection of career and admission books and prepare a separate space to offer unique programs such as author meetings and book talks & concerts.
Park Ilha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, said, “We have institutionalized career and admission counseling centers to respond to the annually changing admission system,” adding, “We will promote various policies to strengthen educational competitiveness, including providing prompt and accurate admission information to local examinees.”

Gangbuk-gu Gifts Book Packages to Infants and Toddlers Under 71 Months
Distributed from May... Available at 22 Locations Including Gangbuk Cultural Information Library
Various Programs Linked to Bookstart Project to Be Operated from May
Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) announced that it will promote the ‘2023 Bookstart’ project to provide opportunities for infants and toddlers to grow and communicate through books.
This project is a community cultural movement under the slogan ‘Start Life with Books,’ gifting book packages to children. Gangbuk-gu has been implementing this project since 2019 to support reading activities and provide opportunities for young children to become familiar with books.
The support targets infants and toddlers under 71 months and their caregivers residing in Gangbuk-gu. Children born between 2020 and 2022 who are over one year old receive books selected for stage 2, and children born between 2017 and 2019 under 71 months receive books selected for stage 3.
Stage 2 selected books include "Danggeun Kindergarten" (author Annyeongdal) and "The Lion Met a Baby" (author Kim Saebyeol). Stage 3 selected books include "The Mole’s Summer" (author Kim Sang-geun) and "Mom Wouldn’t Know?" (author Shim Eun-ji). The district selected these books considering linguistic literary factors, cognitive factors, and usability in collaboration with local residents and daycare teachers.
Caregivers wishing to receive the books can visit one of the 22 distribution locations, including Gangbuk Cultural Information Library, from this month by bringing their ID, resident registration certificate (issued within 3 months of the distribution date), and baby health record book.
In addition, the district operates Bookstart-linked programs at Gangbuk Cultural Information Library, such as picture book-based parenting programs, parent education programs for caregivers, and meetings with Bookstart picture book authors.
For detailed schedules including distribution locations and times, please check the Gangbuk-gu website or contact the Gangbuk-gu Education Support Division.
Mayor Lee Soon-hee said, “This project aims to provide universal knowledge welfare services that everyone can equally enjoy,” adding, “We hope children develop lifelong reading habits through the book packages and form healthy communication relationships with their parents.”
