Middle School Students Save Elderly Person Collapsed on Cold Night Street by Covering with Coat
Jucheon Middle School 3rd Graders Park Junbeom and Won Daeyeon Perform Good Deeds
Detect Emergency Situation, Report to 119, and Respond Appropriately
Two middle school students active at the Youth Culture House in Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon, have become a topic of conversation after saving an elderly person who had collapsed on a night street.
The protagonists of this story are Park Junbeom and Won Daeyeon, third-year students at Jucheon Middle School.
According to a report by Yonhap News on the 25th, they discovered the elderly person collapsed on the road around 7 p.m. on the 17th. The elderly person had their eyes open but was breathing heavily. It is said that there was no response even when they asked, "Are you okay?"
Sensing an "emergency," they immediately called 119.
They then held the elderly person's hand, thinking that the low temperature could cause problems. At that time, the lowest temperature in the Yeongwol area dropped to 3.3 degrees Celsius.
They covered the elderly person with their outerwear to help maintain body heat. Then, they stayed by the elderly person's side until the 119 emergency team arrived.
They expressed their determination, saying, "If we encounter the same situation in the future, we will help people in danger just like this time," and it was reported that they wished for the elderly person's speedy recovery.
A representative of the Youth Culture House said, "Thanks to their quick judgment and response, a precious life was saved," and added, "It is reassuring to have righteous youth in Yeongwol."
