Geumcheon-gu Gasan-dong Welfare Council Holds ‘Bibimbap Day Shared by the Whole Neighborhood’ Event
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon) announced that on the 21st, the Gasan-dong Welfare Council hosted the ‘Bibimbap Day Shared by the Whole Neighborhood’ event in the backyard on the first floor of the Gasan-dong Community Center.
‘Bibimbap Day Shared by the Whole Neighborhood’ is a Gasan-dong district-specialized project fully funded by Geumcheon-gu starting this year. Those who voluntarily donate 3,000 KRW or more can enjoy bibimbap, and the collected donations are used to support neighbors in need within the community.
Volunteers from Gasan-dong professional organizations, related institutions, and various community figures personally prepared bibimbap and served lunch to about 50 elderly living alone and vulnerable groups.
Many local residents participated, and all 350 servings of bibimbap prepared were sold. The total of 4.9 million KRW raised from bibimbap sales and donations sponsored by Gasan-dong professional organizations and local residents was fully donated to the Geumcheon Nuri Comprehensive Social Welfare Center as Gasan-dong welfare funds.
Yoo Young-kwon, Chairman of the Gasan-dong Welfare Council, said, “Using today’s donations as a catalyst, the Gasan-dong Welfare Council will take the lead in discovering and supporting welfare blind spots in Gasan-dong.”
