Songpa-gu Exercise Specialist Teaches 'Baruge Geotgi' (Proper Walking)!
Songpa-gu: From Seongnae Stream, Jangji Stream, Tancheon Stream Waterfront Paths to Loess Trails... A City Good for Walking
Health Centers to Operate ‘Correct Walking Club’ from April to October
Exercise Specialists Provide Guidance on Walking Techniques and Pre- and Post-Exercise Stretching
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) is operating a ‘Correct Walking Club’ at health centers until October to help residents recover a healthy daily life as outdoor walking activities have increased since COVID-19.
Songpa-gu has a well-established walking-friendly environment with many large and small parks such as Olympic Park and Wirye Lake Park, as well as waterfront paths like Seongnae Stream, Jangji Stream, and Tancheon Stream. This year, loess trails will also be created in Songpanaru Park and Ogeum Park to help residents enjoy walking in more diverse environments.
Accordingly, the district started the ‘Correct Walking Club’ in April to enable residents to practice proper walking habits in their daily lives with exercise specialists.
The instructor is a major in exercise prescription and rehabilitation and is affiliated with the Korea Walking Association. They work as a walking expert and trekking instructor for health centers nationwide. They will provide detailed guidance on walking exercises for health, from correct walking posture to pre- and post-exercise stretching.
The walking activities are held every Wednesday and Friday at 7 p.m. for one hour, targeting about 40 residents selected through prior application. Participants walk together with the exercise specialist at Wirye Lake Park to learn proper walking exercises.
The first session runs from April 19 to July 14, and the second session will recruit participants in August and run for two months starting September 1.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “Walking is the easiest and most convenient way to manage health in daily life,” adding, “We will strive to create a ‘City of Community Sports,’ a strategic task of the 8th elected administration, to support residents in enjoying various exercises conveniently in their daily lives and ultimately living healthy lives.”
Gangnam-gu: Fire Evacuation Drill at Indoor Children’s Playground
Fire Response Drills at Three Public Indoor Playgrounds, Conducted on the 18th at Irwon Indoor Children’s Playground
Gangnam-gu (Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will conduct a fire evacuation drill at Irwon Indoor Children’s Playground at 10:30 a.m. on the 18th.
The district operates three public indoor children’s playgrounds (Dogok, Segok, Irwon) to create safe play spaces where children can play with peace of mind. Like regular safety drills conducted at educational institutions such as schools, kindergartens, and daycare centers, the district is promoting safety education and drills this year to conduct practical response training at indoor playgrounds frequently used by children. Following drills at Dogok Indoor Children’s Playground on March 16 and Segok Indoor Children’s Playground on March 23, the drill will be held at Irwon Indoor Children’s Playground on April 18.
The evacuation drill simulates a fire outbreak in the indoor playground as realistically as possible. Children hear the alarm, recognize the fire, and quickly move to the evacuation route following the instructions of safety personnel.
This helps raise awareness of fire situations and practice evacuation procedures.
In addition, monthly facility safety inspections and staff safety training are conducted to ensure safe operation of the indoor playgrounds. Fire safety facility improvement work is also underway at Segok Indoor Children’s Playground and is scheduled to be completed by the end of April.
