Songpa-gu branded taxis are roaming all over Seoul.
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) held the ‘Songpa-gu Taxi City Brand Attachment Ceremony’ on the 6th together with the Seoul Private Taxi Transport Business Association to promote the new city brand by utilizing taxis that serve as citizens’ transportation and run throughout Seoul.
Since the launch of the 8th local government, the district introduced a new city brand that embodies the unique values and history of the city. The CI creatively reinterprets the pine tree image, reflecting the meaning of the place name ‘Songpa (松坡)’, along with the characters ‘Haha’ and ‘Hoho’, and the ‘We Love Songpa’ BI, released to commemorate March 1st Independence Movement Day with patriotic sentiment.
To promote the new city brand throughout Seoul, 3,500 Songpa-gu taxis have taken on the role of ambassadors. On the 6th, the district visited the Songpa branch of the Seoul Private Taxi Transport Business Association to hold the ‘Songpa-gu Taxi City Brand Attachment Ceremony’.
The taxi drivers who participated in the event responded that driving with the Songpa-gu city brand gave them a sense of belonging and increased pride.
Taxi driver Kim Jae-hee said, “I was waiting to pick up a passenger in Yeongdeungpo, and a passenger insisted on riding my taxi first, saying, ‘I live in Songpa-gu, can’t I take this taxi?’” He added, “I felt happy and welcomed when a passenger came looking for my taxi after seeing the Songpa-gu CI attached to it.”
Passengers using the taxis also showed a friendly feeling toward the taxis wearing the Songpa-gu city brand. One passenger said, “Seeing the sign that it’s a Songpa-gu taxi made me feel safer and that the service was more courteous.”
After the city brand attachment ceremony, the district mayor held a meeting with association members. They shared concerns and difficulties faced by taxi drivers, including the recent decrease in passengers due to fare increases, COVID-19, and economic downturn.
