Man Who Accidentally Left Drugs in Elevator Caught After 5 Months
Identifying Suspect Through Resident Reports and CCTV Tracking

A man in his 50s who accidentally left a bag containing drugs in an elevator was arrested and detained after five months. The Uijeongbu Police Department in Gyeonggi announced that they have detained a man in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.
According to the police, in October of last year, a resident of an officetel in Uijeongbu reported, "I found a suspicious handbag containing drugs in the elevator."
Upon receiving the report, the police checked the on-site closed-circuit television (CCTV) and captured footage of Mr. A placing the handbag on the elevator handrail before exiting. They then requested analysis from the National Forensic Service, which confirmed that the substance in the bag was methamphetamine. The police obtained an arrest warrant and tracked Mr. A for over five months.
The police apprehended Mr. A on the street in Uijeongbu on the 5th. It was revealed that during this time, Mr. A had been frequently changing vehicles to evade the police investigation. At the time of arrest, a large quantity of methamphetamine and marijuana was found in both Mr. A’s vehicle and the bag.
