Saudi and Iran Foreign Ministers to Meet in Beijing on the 6th
Discussion on Measures to Implement Normalization of Relations
The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Iran are scheduled to hold talks in Beijing, China, on the 6th (local time).
On the 5th, a foreign news agency reported, citing anonymous sources, that the two countries' top diplomats will meet to discuss the implementation measures for normalizing relations.
Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Saudi Foreign Minister, and Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Iranian Foreign Minister, have coordinated the meeting location and schedule through three phone calls since last month.
An Iranian official explained, "Since reconciliation between the two countries was achieved through China's positive role, the venue for this foreign ministers' meeting was also decided to be Beijing."
Earlier, Saudi state-run SPA news agency had announced that the two foreign ministers would meet during Ramadan, the Islamic fasting month.
