Naju-si Hosts the 7th Baekho Imje Writing Contest
Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Yoon Byung-tae) announced on the 5th that it will hold the "7th Baekho Imje Children’s Writing Contest" for children nationwide.
The writing contest, now in its 7th year, commemorates Baekho Imje, a mid-Joseon Dynasty poet and a renowned literary figure from Naju. The theme for this year’s contest is "When Spring Comes."
Participants are invited to submit works of writing in any form along with matching drawings on the theme of a new and full spring that has arrived with the blessing of everyday life after an unprecedented long tunnel of infectious diseases.
The work should be on a 4-cut drawing paper and may use various materials such as watercolors, crayons, colored paper, etc. There are no restrictions on the form of writing, including poetry and prose.
Participation is open to all children nationwide aged 6 to 12, including poetry submissions. Works can be submitted by visiting the Baekho Literature Museum or by mail by the 14th.
Submitted works will be judged, and awards including Grand Prize (1 person), Excellence Award (2 persons), and Merit Award (10 persons) will be announced on the 28th.
Certificates will be mailed to each school, and the winning works will be specially exhibited next month at the Baekho Literature Museum’s special exhibition hall.
A city official said, “This will be a great opportunity for future dream trees to purely and freely express their thoughts and emotions through their works and to cultivate their creative abilities,” adding, “We look forward to receiving various works on the theme of the returning spring.”
