Jeonnam Ujeongcheong Expands Implementation of 'Welfare Registered Mail Service'
The Jeonnam Regional Post Office will expand the implementation of the 'Welfare Registered Mail Service' to prevent solitary deaths among elderly living alone.
The Jeonnam Regional Post Office announced on the 5th that it has signed a business agreement with four local governments, including Dong-gu, Seo-gu, and Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju, and Muan-gun in Jeonnam, to provide postal services.
This service is an initiative where post offices and local governments jointly identify vulnerable groups in welfare blind spots to prevent solitary deaths among elderly living alone and provide customized welfare services.
So far, together with Buk-gu in Gwangju and Yeonggwang-gun in Jeonnam, a total of 1,981 mails have been sent, discovering 51 cases of households in crisis. Employment placement, basic living allowance applications, housing benefit applications, and material support were provided to them.
