Gumi-si Enhances Seed Disinfection Effect with Hot Water Sterilization... Expands Free Use of 'Byeopsi Hot Water Sterilizer'
Gumi City is expanding the operation of hot water sterilizers to three locations to support seed sterilization and alleviate the difficulties faced by farmers due to the distribution of non-sterilized rice seeds by the National Seed Management Office, which causes rice seed bakanae disease.
The hot water sterilization method involves soaking seeds in 60℃ hot water for 10 minutes to eliminate latent pests and diseases in the seeds, and it is reported to be especially effective in preventing bakanae disease.
Accordingly, Gumi City will increase the capacity of the hot water sterilizer at the agricultural machinery rental center located in Seonsan and additionally install hot water sterilizers at the Okseong-myeon Agricultural Counseling Center and Sandong Agricultural Machinery Rental Center to provide convenience for farmers.
