Gwangju Bukbu Fire Station "Please Equip Vehicle Fire Extinguishers"
On the 30th, the Gwangju Northern Fire Station announced a request to equip vehicles with fire extinguishers to prevent casualties and property damage caused by vehicle fires.
According to the fire department, there have been a total of 455 vehicle fires in the Gwangju area over the past five years, resulting in 7 casualties.
Vehicle fires spread rapidly due to various fuels such as gasoline, and when they occur on remote highways, it takes a long time for fire trucks to arrive. Therefore, it is necessary to equip vehicles with fire extinguishers to respond quickly in the early stages of a fire.
They added that fire extinguishers should be placed within the driver's reach, under the driver's seat or the front passenger seat.
According to the regulations on the performance and standards of automobiles and automobile parts, vehicles with 7 or more seats are required to have a vehicle fire extinguisher. Starting from December next year, under the "Act on the Installation and Management of Firefighting Facilities," all vehicles with 5 or more seats will be required to carry a vehicle fire extinguisher.
