"RM Silmul Bogowatta" Koreail Employee Who Stole Personal Information Ultimately Fired
Unauthorized Viewing for Three Years Since 2019
Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) recently dismissed an employee who unlawfully accessed the ticket information of RM (Kim Nam-joon), leader of the group BTS.
KORAIL conducted an investigation after a staff member reported that employee A, who was in charge of information technology (IT) development, accessed RM's personal information and told acquaintances, "I checked RM's reservation details and saw the actual ticket."
The investigation confirmed that from 2019 for three years, employee A accessed RM's ticket information, address, phone number, and other personal data. On the 29th, it was revealed that a disciplinary committee was held and decided on dismissal.
During the process, employee A reportedly explained that the access was due to personal curiosity as a fan of RM.
KORAIL stated, "We recently decided to dismiss one employee." However, they also said it is difficult to officially confirm personal details about the employee. The employee can file an appeal until the 31st.
