LG Electronics Recognized for Energy Saving Achievements... Energy Star Award Top Prize
Recognized for Outstanding Achievements in Environmental Protection and Energy Conservation
LG Electronics announced on the 29th that it has been recognized for its outstanding achievements in environmental protection and energy savings through home appliances, receiving the highest award, the Sustainability Excellence Award, at the 2023 ENERGY STAR Awards.
The ENERGY STAR Awards are the most prestigious awards in the environmental and energy sectors, presented annually since 1993 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy.
Since winning the "Partner of the Year" award for the first time in 2012, LG Electronics has been named a recipient of the ENERGY STAR Award for the 10th time this year. This recognition reflects its continuous efforts to release ENERGY STAR certified products and conduct various campaigns for energy savings, addressing global climate change including in North America.
Last year, LG Electronics sold one ENERGY STAR certified product every 6 seconds in North America. The total ENERGY STAR certified products sold last year are estimated to reduce over 3.7 million tons of greenhouse gas (CO2) emissions during their lifetimes. This amount is equivalent to the total greenhouse gas emissions produced by 727,696 cars over their lifetimes. It is also comparable to the greenhouse gas emissions produced over two years by all households in Washington D.C., the capital of the United States, with a population of over 710,000.
Additionally, LG Electronics’ ENERGY STAR certified washing machines and dishwashers sold last year can save more than 130 billion liters of water over their product lifetimes, which is enough to fill approximately 53,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

Along with these positive environmental impacts, LG Electronics’ sales revenue from ENERGY STAR certified products reached $4.3 billion last year, an increase of about 10% compared to $3.9 billion in 2021. Yoon Tae-bong, President of LG Electronics North America and Head of the U.S. Corporation (Vice President), stated, “To realize LG Electronics’ ESG vision of ‘Better Life for All,’ we will continue to introduce products that combine differentiated performance and design with high energy efficiency, providing innovative customer experiences.”
