Gyeonggi Fire Department Conducts Large-Scale Wildfire Response Drill at Yangpyeong Yongmunsan on the 23rd
The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters will conduct a joint on-site response drill with related organizations on the 23rd in the Yongmunsan area of Yangpyeong-gun to strengthen wildfire response capabilities.
The Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced that starting from 2:30 PM, about 130 participants including the headquarters, Yangpyeong Fire Station, Yangpyeong County Office, Korea Forest Service, police, volunteer firefighters, and residents will take part in a wildfire response drill. The drill will simulate a fire of unknown cause occurring at the Eco-friendly Agriculture Museum within the Yongmunsan tourist area, spreading to the nearby mountains.
During the drill, the Fire and Disaster Headquarters will first secure fire truck access routes to the wildfire-affected area, then deploy special suppression equipment such as rugged terrain pump trucks and firefighting helicopters to implement wildfire suppression tactics.
In mountainous areas where fire truck access is difficult, water sources in valleys will be secured and motorized fire pumps will be used to prevent fire spread, along with conducting emergency evacuation drills for residents.
The drill will mobilize 25 vehicles including rugged terrain pump trucks and firefighting helicopters, as well as various wildfire suppression equipment such as firefighting drones and motorized fire pumps.
Cho Sun-ho, head of the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, stated, "Although it is not in Gyeonggi-do, large wildfires have been continuously occurring nationwide recently, so we decided to conduct a large-scale wildfire response drill this time. All fire officials in Gyeonggi-do will do their best to create a Gyeonggi-do free of wildfire damage."
