The police have launched an investigation following a series of incidents where bodies were found in burned vehicles, according to a report by Newsis on the 21st.
According to the police and fire authorities, on the morning of the 20th at 7:59 AM, a fire broke out in a Genesis vehicle parked at the Suhan Drowsy Rest Area on the Dangjin-Yeongdeok Expressway heading towards Yeongdeok in Gwangbu-myeon, Boeun-gun, Chungbuk. The fire was extinguished by the fire department dispatched to the scene in about 20 minutes.

A Mr. A (47) was found dead in the driver's seat of the extinguished vehicle, with a stab wound to the abdomen. The police, considering the possibility of a crime, have requested an autopsy from the National Forensic Service and are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
Additionally, a body was found in a burned vehicle near a village hall in Samgukyusa-myeon, Gunwi-gun, Gyeongbuk, prompting a police investigation. According to the Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters, a report was received around 9:16 PM on the 20th about a fire in a vehicle located in a vacant lot near the village hall in Hwabuk 3-ri, Samgukyusa-myeon, Gunwi-gun, Gyeongbuk.

The fire department extinguished the fire within 40 minutes and discovered an unidentified body in the trunk while searching the vehicle. According to the police, the vehicle is a Seltos and is known to be a rental car.
