Gyeongnam Jeongbodae President Kim Daesik Leads 'WEB 3.0 Forum'
Kim Dae-sik, President of Gyeongnam Information University, has taken the chairmanship of the ‘WEB 3.0 Forum,’ which was formed by bringing together industry, academia, research, and government to discover new growth engines and present a vision for national development.
The WEB 3.0 Forum held its inaugural ‘2023 WEB 3.0 Symposium’ on the 15th at the COEX ASEM Ballroom.
At the WEB 3.0 Symposium, over 500 experts from industry, academia, research, and government attended, including Song Sang-hoon, Director of Information and Communication Policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT; Heo Seong-wook, President of the National IT Industry Promotion Agency; Lee Won-tae, President of the Korea Internet & Security Agency; Jeon Seong-bae, President of the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation; and Hwang Jong-seong, President of the Korea Intelligent Information Society Agency.
Ban Jang-sik, President of the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation; Bin Dae-in, Chairman (designate) of BNK Financial Group; Moon Joo-hyun, Chairman of MDM Group; Kim Sang-soo, Chairman of the Korea Construction Association; and Cho Jun-hee, Chairman of the Korea Software Industry Association also attended the event. Jang Je-won, Chairman of the National Assembly’s Public Administration and Security Committee, sent a video message congratulating the forum’s founding.

View original imageThe event featured discussions and lectures by domestic and international experts, divided into morning and afternoon sessions.
In the morning session, there were keynote presentations including Clemens Wan, Global Solution Architect at ConsenSys, an Ethereum infrastructure developer, who spoke on ‘Web 3.0 Economy and Paradigm Change,’ and Oh Se-hyun, Vice President of SK Telecom (in charge of Web 3 CO), who presented ‘Web3 Key Themes for 2023.’
This was followed by a keynote lecture by Justin Kim, CEO of Avalanche Korea, titled ‘WEB 3.0 Adoption of Enterprise and Government,’ and a discussion on governance directions for the spread and activation of Web 3.0.
In the afternoon session, presentations were given by experts in promising Web 3.0 fields including ▲Metaverse (Choi Baek-jun, CEO of Tilon) ▲Global Ecosystem (Yoon Jeong-hyun, CEO of Mentisco) ▲Blockchain (Seo Sang-min, Chairman of the Klaytn Foundation) ▲Decentralization (Baek Jong-yoon, Chairman of the Mammoth Foundation) ▲Digital Asset Platform Strategy (Kim Sang-hwan, Executive Director of Busan Bank) ▲New Business and Strategy (Heo Won-ho, Director of Coinplug).
Kim Dae-sik, President of Gyeongnam Information University and chair of the forum, said, “While Web 2.0 was an era of data use and profit centralization led by giant platform companies, Web 3.0 focuses on individual rights, ownership, and benefits, and is a decentralization technology and trend based on the reliability of information and data.”
