Simmons has donated 1.2 billion KRW to Samsung Seoul Hospital over the past four years.
At this agreement ceremony, the two parties confirmed new support for ‘pediatric and adolescent palliative care,’ sharing a commitment to caring for the overall lives of young patients beyond disease treatment. This is the first time a general corporation has decided to support pediatric and adolescent palliative care at Samsung Seoul Hospital. Pediatric and adolescent palliative care refers to providing integrated services to patients suffering from severe illnesses and their families, including ▲improving patients’ quality of life through pain management ▲psychological and social support for patients and families ▲support for patients’ physical and emotional development ▲care for families during end-of-life and bereavement, helping to alleviate the difficulties families face during the treatment period. Despite the urgent need for pediatric and adolescent palliative care expressed by the medical community in Korea, awareness and support remain severely insufficient.
Park Seung-woo, Director of Samsung Seoul Hospital, said, “Since 2020, I deeply thank Simmons for continuously showing warm care and affection to pediatric and adolescent patients,” adding, “Especially this year, despite the lack of awareness about pediatric and adolescent palliative care, we are very pleased to be able to support not only the patients but also their families to live better lives thanks to Simmons’ proactive assistance.”
Last month, Simmons launched a limited edition ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) bed, the ‘Beautyrest 1925.’ For every unit sold, 5% of the consumer price will be accumulated and donated as remodeling funds for the Samsung Seoul Hospital Pediatric and Adolescent Center, scheduled for completion in 2025. This marks the first branding collaboration between Simmons and Samsung Seoul Hospital. Going forward, Simmons plans to support improving social awareness of the Samsung Seoul Hospital Pediatric and Adolescent Center and help the center become Korea’s leading pediatric and adolescent center.
Ahn Jeong-ho, CEO of Simmons, said, “As a business operator, I have believed that companies should participate in making the world a better place as members of society. In 2020, I established a connection with Samsung Seoul Hospital and began donating,” adding, “Recently, through the ‘Beautyrest 1925’ mattress, it has become even more rewarding to give consumers’ purchasing activities the precious meaning of donation.”
Since 2020, Simmons has supported over 100 pediatric patients with inpatient treatment costs such as surgeries and tests, outpatient treatment costs including consultations and examinations, and the purchase of medical assistive devices such as wheelchairs and hearing aids.
