Request to Refrain from Internal Attacks Including Bimyeong Faction
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, expressed concern over internal attacks from some hardline supporters, urging restraint by saying, "The muzzle should be pointed outward. We must minimize division and conflict."
On the afternoon of the 14th, Lee held a live event on YouTube to communicate with party members in real time. On this day, he stated, "No matter how big the differences within us are, can they be greater than the differences with the opposition?" and added, "What we need to be cautious about is (internal) cracks and conflicts. Recently, such incidents have been occurring, and personally, I find it very regrettable."
He expressed concern over the so-called 'Gaeddal,' Lee's hardline supporters, attacking others through 'coordinate targeting' amid movements led by the non-mainstream faction demanding Lee's resignation.
Lee continued, "Right now, we have to take responsibility for one camp, but when we point out small differences within, cracks form and people fall away. That causes losses," and appealed, "As much as possible, even if there are slight differences, we should accept them and focus on commonalities, minimizing hatred toward comrades."
He also requested restraint regarding actions on the Democratic Party's member petition board demanding expulsion or disciplinary measures against specific individuals criticizing him. He pointed out, "In a democratic party, various opinions can be expressed. Diversity is the lifeblood of a political party," and said, "If you try to root out and shame others by petitioning because 'you think differently from me,' it might feel satisfying, but it damages unity and strengthens hostility."

He emphasized the importance of winning next year's general election. Lee said, "South Korea is regressing in many areas. If bad results come out in the general election, and legislative power falls into the wrong hands, the speed and intensity of regression will become an uncontrollable situation," and stressed, "Our job is to prevent such unimaginable situations from actually happening."
