Gwangju Nam-gu Opens 5th Smart Library in Hyochon 1 District
The 5th Smart Library has opened in Hyochon 1 District, Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
Nam-gu announced on the 14th that it has opened the 5th unmanned Smart Library inside Hyochon Park to provide better library services to residents living in the Hyochon district.
The 5th Smart Library will operate on a trial basis until the 19th, followed by an official opening ceremony on the 20th.
This library is the result of being selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's '2022 U-Library Service Support Project.' Since February last year, a demand survey and on-site inspections were conducted to determine the installation location, and it has opened after about a year.
Nam-gu invested approximately 140 million KRW in the project to build an automated book lending and return system, VPN security devices, and a database server network for material management, allowing residents to freely borrow and return books.
It is also understood to house around 400 new and bestselling books.
