Arsonist Who Set Fire to 47 Stores at Incheon Hyundai Market Sent to Prosecution
An arsonist who set fire to Incheon Hyundai Market, burning 47 stores, has been detained and handed over to the prosecution.
On the 14th, the Jungbu Police Station in Incheon announced that they had sent A (48), who was detained on suspicion of arson of a general building, to the prosecution.
A is suspected of setting fire to five locations, including a dish store and a small cargo truck, in the Hyundai Market area of Songnim-dong, Dong-gu, Incheon, from 11:38 PM for 10 minutes on the 4th.
There were no casualties from the fire, but 47 out of 205 stores in the entire Hyundai Market were burned.
According to the investigation, it was confirmed that on the day of the crime, A drank alcohol near Michuhol-gu and Hyundai Market, set the fire, and then returned home about 20 minutes away from the market.
A police official said, "A did not properly testify about the motive for the crime," adding, "He only repeated his previous statement that he does not know why he set the fire."
A committed arson 24 times from 2006 to 2018, was prosecuted four times, and was sentenced to prison each time, serving a total of 10 years.
