Gwangju Seo-gu Opens Resident Creative Space 'Maeul Media Center'

Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, has opened a Village Media Center to support various media activities of residents.

According to Seo-gu on the 12th, the Village Media Center is located in the Changjak Nongsonggol Community Center and is an open studio with a total floor area of 253㎡, equipped with a one-person media room, an editing room, and a control room.

It is expected to be used as a base space where local residents can learn media, express themselves, and create content.

The open studio consists of three walls with different concepts: a media wall, a broadcasting wall, and an art wall, allowing for various types of filming.

An electric chroma key for live commerce is also installed, enabling virtual background editing, composite shooting, and real-time YouTube streaming.

The one-person media room is equipped with various filming and editing equipment, from camcorders and digital cameras to high-end camcorders, tripods, audio mixers, and lapel microphone sets, allowing for video shooting, editing, and broadcasting.

The operating hours are weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition to equipment and space rental, the center will be used as a space where residents can experience various media cultures and communicate freely through local video screenings, village movie showings, media education, and various content experiences.

Kim Igang, head of Seo-gu Office, said, “I hope the Media Center will establish itself as a media communication hub between the administration and residents, among residents, and within the village community.”
