"Protests Across Seoul Condemn Government Forced Mobilization Solution... Traffic Congestion Ensues"
'Forced Mobilization Humiliation Solution Invalid' 'Judgment on the Yoon Seok-yeol Government's Humiliating Diplomacy'.
Civil society groups including the Korea-Japan Historical Justice Joint Action held a rally on the afternoon of the 11th at Seoul Plaza, holding placards with such phrases to condemn the government's forced mobilization solution plan. About 1,500 participants in the rally opposed the government's third-party compensation method for the Japanese forced mobilization solution plan, repeatedly shouting slogans such as "Anti-historical" and "Anti-peace".
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, said, "The people are stunned and the president seems deaf," adding, "(President Yoon Seok-yeol) has brutally stabbed the wounds of the victims and mercilessly trampled on the pride of the people," and raised his voice, saying, "(The government’s solution plan) has no compensation, no apology, and grants a complete exemption from war crimes. It is the 2023 Gye-myo National Humiliation comparable to the Eulsa Treaty."
He also claimed, "The president says the compensation plan respects the victims' positions, but I clearly heard from the victim grandmothers who said, 'We don't need that kind of money' with these ears," and questioned, "How can this humiliating compensation plan be said to respect the victims' positions?"
On that day, multiple rallies by various groups were held simultaneously across downtown Seoul. Some roads were controlled, causing traffic congestion.
