Korean University Students Progressive Union, Surprise Protest at Yongsan US Military Base... 18 Detained
University students opposing the South Korea-U.S. joint military exercises trespassed into the U.S. military base in Yongsan, Seoul, and staged a surprise protest before being arrested by the police.
The Yongsan Police Station in Seoul arrested 18 members of the Korean University Students Progressive Union (Daejinyeon) on the spot on the 10th afternoon on charges of trespassing after they held an anti-military exercise protest in front of the former South Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command building inside the Yongsan base.
