Adding the Sea to Humanities... Pukyong National University Hosts 'Dosirak Maritime Humanities Festival'
The Humanities Korea Plus (HK+) Project Group at Pukyong National University will hold a unique lecture series combining humanities and the sea, titled "Lunchbox Sea Area Humanities Festival," starting from the 10th.
The Pukyong University HK+ Project Group is collaborating with Busan Nasum Cooperative, Hanadoori Residents' Association, and SoyouYOU Publishing to provide lectures containing stories of the sea and life to Busan residents through this event.
The event, themed "The Sea as I See It," will be held five times from 6 p.m. on the 10th until May 19 at the second-floor space of Arirang Hill Cafe in Jwacheon-dong, Dong-gu, Busan, where humanities lectures will take place.

View original imageOn the 10th, the first lecture will be delivered by Kim Dong-gyu, Director of Narakhanal, under the theme "A New Wave of Humanities." The second lecture on the 24th will feature Ahn Jung-don, Director of Nasum Cooperative, with a lecture titled "A Life in Harmony with Wooden Boats."
The third lecture on April 7 will be given by Lee So-mi, an operating committee member of Hanadoori Residents' Association, titled "Overcoming Life's Crises through Sea Sports." The fourth lecture on April 21 will be presented by Kim Kyung-hwa, Chairperson of Ddottaddoga Cooperative, with a lecture called "Traveling the Sea Hand in Hand with Art."
The fifth lecture on May 19 will be delivered by Hong Soon-yeon, former director of Samjin Fishcake, under the theme "Regenerating Small Urban Spaces through Memory."
The Pukyong University HK+ Project Group holds the "Lunchbox Sea Area Humanities Festival" annually in cooperation with local educational institutions. While it was held online or in a reduced format due to COVID-19 in previous years, this year it will be conducted through experiential activities.
