Suwon City Begins Repairing 'Potholes' on Roads
The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province will carry out repairs on potholes in asphalt by the end of this month.
On the 10th, Suwon City announced that it has organized five teams consisting of 104 city and district officials to operate the "Pothole 24-Hour Rapid Response Team" until the end of this month for quick response to potholes. The inspection teams will maintain 950 km of roads within the jurisdiction (32 km of national roads, 23 km of provincial roads, and 895 km of city roads).
The city will also strengthen road monitoring for early detection of potholes and accept reports through complaint systems (monitoring system, 국민신문고 [Gukmin Sinmungo], 안전신문고 [Anjeon Sinmungo], and daily inconvenience reports). A cooperative system with citizens such as bus and taxi drivers will also be established.
Additionally, to prevent potholes from recurring, the city will invest 11 billion KRW starting this month to repave roads and carry out 56 follow-up pothole measures, including small-scale crushed pavement.
The city plans to reorganize and operate the rapid response teams during the summer rainy season and typhoon periods when heavy rainfall is concentrated.
