Seoul and Daegu Museums Hold First Collaborative Exhibition
Seoul Museum of History 'Daegu Ilbeonji, Hyangchon-dong Story'
The Seoul Museum of History announced on the 10th that it will hold the exhibition "Daegu Ilbeonji, Hyangchon-dong Story" in collaboration with the Bangjja Yugi Museum of the Daegu Cultural Arts Promotion Agency at Daegu City until May 7th, at the Seoul Museum of History (1st floor lobby).
This exhibition focuses on Hyangchon-dong, a bustling area of Daegu during the modern and contemporary periods, a space where refugee art flourished after the Korean War, and a representative handmade shoe alley of Daegu since the 1970s. It introduces the past lives and memories of Hyangchon-dong to Seoul citizens during its growth into a modern city.
Through the Daegu Eupji (1832), an old map, visitors can explore the former administrative district name of Hyangchon-dong, located where the Gyeongsang Gamyeong, the government office overseeing Gyeongsang Province during the Joseon Dynasty, once stood. The exhibition also showcases images related to the modernization and bustling scenes of Hyangchon-dong during the Japanese colonial period.
