Korea Airports Corporation Expands Market for Air Navigation Safety Equipment at 'Airspace World 2023'
Korea Airports Corporation announced on the 9th that it will participate in 'Airspace World 2023,' held from the 8th to the 10th (local time) in Geneva, Switzerland, to conduct marketing activities for navigation safety equipment developed by the corporation.
'Airspace World' is the world's largest navigation sector exhibition held annually since 2014 by the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO). This year, more than 170 manufacturers are participating to promote their navigation equipment.
The corporation set up a promotional booth at the exhibition site and showcased nine types of navigation safety equipment developed in-house, including Tactical Air Navigation (TACAN), Instrument Landing System (ILS), Distance Measuring Equipment (DME), Field Test Set (FTS), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) X-ray. It introduced the features and advantages of the equipment to overseas airport buyers and other stakeholders, receiving great responses.
Additionally, the corporation plans to promote its products and collect order information from aviation authorities worldwide, while identifying competitors' technological trends and the latest trends in air traffic management to expand its market reach.
Since 2004, to address issues related to the high purchase costs of expensive foreign navigation equipment, procurement of spare parts, and repair costs and time required in case of failures, the corporation has been promoting the localization of navigation equipment development in collaboration with domestic small and medium-sized enterprises. As the first airport operator in the world to succeed in manufacturing equipment and entering overseas markets, it has exported self-developed equipment to 18 countries, including India and Turkey, up to last year.
