It was confirmed on the 9th that the head of a domestic home appliance brand is under prosecution investigation for allegedly inhaling liquid marijuana.
The Criminal Division 2 of the Anyang Branch of Suwon District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Park Jin-seok) is investigating Mr. A, the head of the home appliance brand, on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. Mr. A is accused of repeatedly inhaling liquid marijuana with two acquaintances at his residence and other locations from August 2021 to October last year.
The prosecution is also investigating the two acquaintances who inhaled liquid marijuana with Mr. A under the same charges.
Liquid marijuana is a variant drug made for electronic cigarettes by concentrating marijuana and using marijuana resin, which has stronger hallucinogenic effects.
It is known to have stronger hallucinogenic effects compared to marijuana and has less of the distinctive marijuana smell, making it less off-putting. Since it undergoes an additional processing step, it is also said to be more expensive than regular marijuana. Mr. A is reported to have purchased and inhaled this liquid marijuana together with his acquaintances.

The prosecution received the case from the police in January last year and has been continuing investigations including questioning related parties. Earlier, the police obtained related intelligence last year, conducted a preliminary investigation before formal charges, and then launched an official investigation. During the police investigation, drug tests conducted on Mr. A and others showed positive results for marijuana in both hair and urine samples.
