Seongnam City Supports Purchase of 4,900 Electric and Hydrogen Vehicles with 57.3 Billion KRW Investment
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will provide subsidies to buyers of 4,900 electric and hydrogen vehicles this year to promote the spread of zero-emission vehicles and improve air quality.
To this end, Seongnam City will invest a total project budget of 57.3 billion KRW, including 35.7 billion KRW from the national government, 1.5 billion KRW from the provincial government, and 20.1 billion KRW from the city government.
The number of vehicles supported by type and the maximum subsidy per vehicle are as follows: ▲ 4,040 electric passenger cars, up to 10.3 million KRW ▲ 238 electric cargo vehicles, up to 18.9 million KRW ▲ 100 electric buses, up to 112 million KRW ▲ 300 electric two-wheelers (undecided).
Additionally, 220 hydrogen passenger cars will receive a fixed subsidy of 35 million KRW each, and 2 hydrogen buses will receive 300 million KRW each.
An additional 6 million KRW subsidy is provided when an electric passenger car is purchased and used as a commercial taxi.
Eligible recipients for zero-emission vehicle purchase subsidies are citizens, organizations, and corporations who have resided in Seongnam City for more than three months as of the application date.
Applicants can visit electric and hydrogen vehicle sales locations to fill out application forms and contracts, then apply through these companies.
All procedures are conducted through the Ministry of Environment’s Low Emission Vehicle Purchase Subsidy Support System, and subsidies are provided in the order of vehicle delivery and registration after application submission.
Last year, Seongnam City provided subsidies totaling 51.55 billion KRW to buyers of 4,137 zero-emission vehicles, including 3,949 electric vehicles and 188 hydrogen vehicles.

Meanwhile, the city plans to increase the number of electric vehicle chargers from the current 3,800 to 13,000 by 2026, and expand hydrogen vehicle charging stations from one to three locations (one charger per location).
