"Women Wearing Lingerie Are Sexy"... Chinese Men Wearing It Instead Due to Censorship
Broadcast Censorship of Women Wearing Lingerie
Men Appear Wearing It as Home Shopping Sales Channels Close
Chinese men have started appearing on home shopping live broadcasts wearing women's lingerie. This is because authorities began censoring broadcasts featuring women wearing lingerie, citing them as 'provocative.'
On the 7th (local time), the US CNN reported that Chinese men have started wearing women's underwear to sell products in order to avoid the Chinese government's 'harsh censorship.'
The men appeared on live broadcasts wearing women's lingerie without makeup or cross-dressing. In the released broadcast, a man with short hair and a mask is seen wearing women's underwear and selling products. They are actively engaging by striking various poses to sell more.
The head of the lingerie company that planned the broadcast told CNN, "We are absolutely not trying to mock the authorities' regulations. Everyone is taking it very seriously to comply with the rules," adding, "If you want to promote lingerie in live streaming broadcasts, the solution is very simple. Just find men to wear women's lingerie."
The media reported that lingerie companies employing male models to sell women's underwear is due to censorship by Chinese authorities. One female underwear seller revealed that home shopping broadcast times were shortened after censorship in January.
On popular shopping malls like Taobao, photos featuring mannequins or men wearing lingerie have appeared instead of female models. Some live streaming broadcasts are conducted with female models wearing tops over their underwear.
Such excessive censorship by Chinese authorities also led to modifications in some scenes of the Japanese animation "Demon Slayer." The "Demon Slayer: Entertainment District Arc" series, which began airing in early December last year, was released in China on the 5th.

The delayed release is reportedly due to censorship of female character exposure. In the actual animation, most female characters wear revealing clothes with low-cut chests or exposed legs, but in the Chinese version, all exposed areas of the characters are covered with clothing.
