Cheongsong-gun Leads Efforts to Create a Clean Rural Environment... Operates Intensive Agricultural Waste Collection Period in the First Half of This Year
In Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, a focused collection period for agricultural waste such as abandoned plastic film, reflective film, pesticide containers, and general recyclables around farmland is being operated in the first half of the year to create a clean rural environment.
The focused collection of agricultural waste is conducted twice a year in spring and autumn around the busy farming seasons, and this year's first half focused collection period will be operated for 57 days from March 1 to April 26.
If agricultural waste is disposed of at the village communal collection sites, the town and township offices along with the Environmental Corporation (private consignment collection operators) will circulate through the villages to collect it. In particular, compensation is provided depending on the type and amount of waste.
Compensation is paid to collection groups at rates of 200 KRW/kg for plastic film, 2,400 KRW/kg for pesticide plastic bottles, and 5,520 KRW/kg for pesticide bags, and the collection may end early if the budget is exhausted.
Agricultural waste must be disposed of after removing foreign substances (such as strings, wires, soil), and if separation and disposal are insufficient, the Environmental Corporation may refuse to accept the waste, so care must be taken when disposing.
