Government Pledges Promotion and Overseas Exhibitions to Boost Interest
First Lady Kim Geon-hee, wife of President Yoon Suk-yeol, held a luncheon on the 7th at Sangchunjae in the Blue House with 20 family members of the national intangible cultural heritage lineage holders and encouraged the holders, transmission educators, and apprentices who are carrying on the legacy of our traditional culture.
During the afternoon event, First Lady Kim viewed about 10 works created by national intangible cultural heritage apprentices who received lineage transmission, and at the luncheon, she encouraged them by saying, "I feel your craftsmanship and passion to continue our intangible culture," according to Lee Do-woon, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, in a written briefing.
She continued, "I express my deep respect for your efforts and dedication in preserving our elegant and refined traditional crafts."
First Lady Kim also said, "Not only domestically but also overseas, interest in our culture and traditions is increasing, which fills me with pride," adding, "Traditional crafts play a role in inheriting the spirit of our country. I hope that traditional craftworks embodying that spirit will be introduced to more domestic and international institutions, including the Presidential Office."
In particular, regarding the national intangible cultural heritage apprentices, First Lady Kim urged, "It must have been a difficult decision, but I hope you firmly protect the roots of Korean culture with the sense of mission to carry on our spirit."
