The cumulative number of participants reached 12,099. This is the highest cumulative number recorded since the county began promoting sports marketing and is regarded as one of the top achievements within Jeollanam-do.
Notably, prestigious badminton teams such as Samsung Life, Yonex, Hallym University, and a youth team affiliated with a professional club in Thailand visited, contributing to Wando-gun’s reputation as an optimal winter training destination.
Amid fierce competition among local governments nationwide to attract training teams, Wando-gun’s success is attributed not only to its geographical advantages like mild weather but also to enhanced sports facilities such as the Cheonghaejin Sports Center, quality food and lodging services, and years of external promotion.
It is estimated that the economic ripple effect generated by athletes staying in Wando for training camps amounts to approximately 1 billion KRW.
A county official stated, “By providing an environment where athletes can focus solely on training, Wando is firmly establishing itself as a training camp destination. We will actively pursue attracting more training teams to invigorate the local economy.”
