Wavve to Directly Train OTT Tech Talent... Launches 'Tech Internship' Program
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] Wave announced on the 7th that it has launched the technical job recruitment conversion internship ‘Wave 2023 Tech Internship’.
Marking its second year following last year, the Wave ‘Tech Internship’ selected a total of 12 candidates through document screening, coding tests, and interviews. The total number of applicants increased sharply to 174% compared to the previous year, showing strong interest in the online video service (OTT) technology field.

View original imageJang Han-bin, a manager working as an engineer in the Wave Media Development Team after participating in the first Tech Internship last year, said, “It was a valuable opportunity to learn the practical technology in the content service field I was always interested in and to connect it to my goal of employment.”
The second batch of Tech Interns, selected through a high competition rate of 157:1, will be assigned to work after basic job training to enhance understanding of the tasks, along with mentoring by support field. They will perform work for about 10 weeks in each support area such as data analysis, user convenience UX implementation (frontend), and member and video content management server development (backend). Based on the final project presentation and demonstration evaluation, outstanding performers will be offered the opportunity to convert to full-time positions at Wave.

Han Won-sik, Head of Wave Platform Technology Division (CTO), explained, “Although interest in OTT platforms is high, engineers without a certain period of experience find it difficult to get work opportunities. The Tech Internship is a program that provides applicants with direct experience in their interested jobs and supports Wave in securing excellent talent through a verification process.”
