The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 7th that it inspected 3,998 restaurants that prepare and deliver or sell Malatang, Yangkkochi, and chicken, and found 51 places (1.3%) violating the Food Sanitation Act.
The inspection, conducted from the 6th to the 10th of last month in collaboration with local governments nationwide, targeted delivery restaurants registered on delivery apps that had no inspection history or had administrative sanctions within the past two years. The main violations were ▲storage of expired products (5 places) ▲failure to conduct health checkups (34 places) ▲violation of hygienic handling standards (6 places) ▲not wearing hygiene caps or masks (3 places) ▲other violations (3 places).
The detected businesses will be subject to administrative measures by the competent authorities and will be re-inspected within six months to verify improvements. Along with the inspection, 225 food items prepared and sold at the restaurants were collected and tested for food poisoning bacteria; so far, 195 items that have completed testing were deemed suitable.

Since 2021, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has been conducting focused inspections on restaurants delivering high-consumption items to strengthen hygiene and safety. The Ministry stated, "We will continue to strengthen safety management of delivery foods widely consumed by the public and take strict measures against intentional illegal acts to create a safe food environment."
