Naju-si Expands Heating Cost Support for Vulnerable Groups... 200,000 KRW per Household
Naju City in Jeollanam-do is expanding its heating cost support by 420 million won for low-income elderly living alone amid the persistent late winter cold.
On the 6th, the city announced that it will provide 200,000 won per household to 2,100 elderly individuals aged 65 or older who are living alone and belong to the basic livelihood security recipients or near-poverty class.
This second emergency heating cost support, following the one in January, is expected to greatly help vulnerable groups struggling with rising heating expenses.
Earlier, in January, the city promptly provided heating cost support totaling 539 million won, giving 200,000 won per household to 2,205 elderly care recipients and 491 low-income single-parent families in preparation for the winter cold wave.
Applications for the second heating cost support can be made by the eligible individuals or their family members (guardians) at the administrative welfare centers in their registered residential areas (eup, myeon, dong) until the 16th.
Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said, “I hope this heating cost support will alleviate the financial burden on low-income households struggling with the chilly late winter mornings and evenings. We will do our best to create a safer and happier welfare community city by discovering welfare blind spots and providing timely support.”
