IoT-Based Fire Monitoring Integration System Prevents Large-Scale Fire
An Internet of Things (IoT)-based fire monitoring linkage system prevented a large-scale fire.
The IoT-based fire monitoring linkage system automatically detects fires through wireless fire detectors and reports them to the 119 center. Currently, it is installed in 53 out of 163 traditional markets in the province, with 22 of these connected to the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters.
At 4:04 a.m. on the 6th, the provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters received an automatic report of a fire at a store in Bugok Dokkaebi Market located in Uiwang City through the IoT-based fire monitoring linkage system.
The 119 situation room immediately issued a dispatch order, and the Uiwang Fire Station's first response team arrived at the scene and completely extinguished the fire by 4:23 a.m., just 19 minutes after the report. The clothing repair shop that caught fire burned some parts such as the ventilation fan, but thanks to the quick fire suppression, there was no significant damage.
Previously, in September 2021, a fire at Osan Osaek Market was also reported through the IoT-based fire monitoring linkage system, and the fire was extinguished within 11 minutes of the report, preventing a large-scale fire.
