"Contains the aspiration to strongly support the Yoon administration"
Also leaves advice for the next leadership
"South Korea's fate is at stake in next year's general election"
Jeong Jin-seok, the Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, described the record-high voter turnout in the March 8 party convention as "writing a new chapter in the history of party democracy that has never existed before."
Chairman Jeong stated at the Emergency Response Committee meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 6th, "The overwhelmingly high voter turnout reflects the members' strong desire to create a party leadership that will firmly support the Yoon Seok-yeol administration and propel the Republic of Korea forward."

The People Power Party Election Commission announced that the mobile voting turnout for the 837,236-member electorate, including delegates and responsible party members, held on the 4th and 5th, reached a record high of 47.51%. For those who did not participate in mobile voting, automated response system (ARS) voting will be conducted from the 6th to the 7th, and the combined results will be finalized on the 8th.
Chairman Jeong said, "Once the new leadership is elected at the party convention on the 8th, today will be the last Emergency Response Committee meeting," adding, "Since the committee's launch on September 13 last year, I have been striving every day to stabilize the ruling party and properly support the development of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration. Looking back, the past six months have been the most challenging period in my over 20 years of political life."
After the committee meeting, he also offered advice regarding the next leadership during a meeting with reporters. Chairman Jeong explained, "Whoever becomes the party leader, the special mission entrusted to us is the general election next year," adding, "I deliberately use the term 'great war' because this election is not just a routine one that comes every four years, but a do-or-die battle that determines the fate of the Republic of Korea. Therefore, I believe the role and responsibility of the next leadership are greater than ever."
