Seoul City Launches 'Youth Job Matching Dedicated Desk' This Year
Matching 2,000 Job-Seeking Youth with Promising Companies
Seoul City announced on the 5th that the 'Youth Job Matching Enhancement Dedicated Desk' will facilitate matching between more than 2,000 young job seekers and companies this year to alleviate job mismatches among youth. The program will provide comprehensive support by linking policy projects and company sites through global and new growth company visits, as well as professional consulting for youth employment.
The 'Youth Job Matching Enhancement Dedicated Desk' is a job support desk opened by Seoul City in July last year at the Janggyo-dong Youth Job Center to resolve the worsening job mismatch caused by information asymmetry between job seekers and hiring companies. This year, Seoul City plans to select specialized institutions with job matching expertise to actively discover and recruit hiring companies and young job seekers, providing customized matching services.
The core function of the ‘Youth Job Matching Enhancement Dedicated Desk’ is to directly recruit and discover young job seekers and youth-preferred companies and connect them to employment. To this end, the city will match over 1,300 young people by providing customized recruitment information on companies preferred by youth, such as startups, global companies, and new growth 4th industrial revolution-based companies, targeting 2,000 young job seekers aged 15 to 39 residing in Seoul by the end of the year.
In particular, among the 2,000 young job seekers, 1,000 will be prioritized for connection, focusing on unemployed participants of major city youth job projects such as the Youth Employment Academy, Seoul-type Youth Intern Job Camps, and Seoul-type New Deal Job Projects.
A company visit program will also be conducted so that job seekers can directly check information about companies. Unlike the ‘visit-type exploration,’ which involves touring internal facilities and listening to explanations from HR managers, the program will operate as an ‘experience-type exploration,’ where young job seekers visit promising companies such as startups, global companies, and new growth 4th industrial revolution companies preferred by youth, perform tasks presented by company practitioners, and gain practical experience.
The ‘Youth Job Matching Enhancement Dedicated Desk’ is staffed by eight experts, including consultants and job searching (demand and information discovery) specialists, providing personalized employment support services. For young job seekers who come with employment concerns, the desk supports the entire process leading to employment, including ▲individual capability and preferred company selection, ▲discovery of job-suitable companies, ▲intensive consulting (job analysis, resume and interview consulting, etc.), and ▲matching with companies followed by employment.
