Controversial 'Physical:100' Production Company Faces Breach of Contract Lawsuit
Ascendio Files Compensation Lawsuit Against Ruiworks
The Netflix variety show 'Physical: 100' has fallen into controversy. Entertainment agency Ascendio filed a lawsuit against the production company Louis Works Media (hereafter Louis Works), claiming damages for being excluded from the credits despite participating in the program's production.
Ascendio announced on the 2nd that on the 15th of last month, it filed a lawsuit against Louis Works, the co-producer of 'Physical: 100,' seeking damages related to breach of contract and defamation due to the dissemination of false information.
'Physical: 100' lists MBC and Louis Works as co-producers, but Ascendio is omitted from the list.
Ascendio claimed that in February last year, it signed a planning development investment contract with Louis Works that included a condition to list Ascendio as a co-producer, and paid the planning development fees, but its name was not listed, and the investment funds were not returned.
They further stated, "Louis Works argued through multiple media outlets that MBC, which is not a contracting party with us, would send the official letter and certified mail, claiming that 'the investment contract with Ascendio was terminated and that our production participation is not factual.'" They also appealed, "Louis Works maliciously exaggerated to the media that Ascendio engaged in stock price manipulation through IR materials, which had a significantly negative impact on us and our shareholders."
An Ascendio representative emphasized, "Our participation in the production of 'Physical: 100' is factual, and the related contract is still valid. We have filed a claim for damages against Louis Works for breach of contract and defamation due to the spread of false information, and we are also considering additional legal actions."
They added, "We will do our best to reclaim the rights and honor lost in this matter," and urged, "We call on related companies and parties to show interest and take appropriate measures so that 'Physical: 100' can be a proper program not only in terms of external success but also internally."
On the other hand, Louis Works stated that 'Physical: 100' was co-produced with MBC and that Ascendio did not participate in the production. They previously clarified that since they notified Ascendio of contract termination before the program's production despite Ascendio's initial investment in planning fees, there is no issue.
