Seogwipo Coast Guard to Conduct Ship Marine Pollution Prevention Inspections Until Next Month
The Seogwipo Coast Guard will conduct marine pollution prevention inspections targeting marine construction sites and vessels mobilized for work in the Seogwipo area until the 30th of next month.
According to the Seogwipo Coast Guard on the 2nd, most of the vessels mobilized at marine construction sites are from other regions, and due to their low understanding of the characteristics of Seogwipo waters, special caution is required to prevent marine pollution accidents.

The Seogwipo Coast Guard plans to identify the status of marine construction in the Seogwipo area through related organizations such as Jeju Provincial Government and Seogwipo City Hall, and manage key information by creating marine pollution prevention management cards.
In addition, inspections will be conducted on mobilized vessels regarding ▲the adequacy of marine pollution prevention equipment ▲the treatment status of pollutants such as bilge water and sewage ▲the use of appropriate fuel oil ▲and preparedness and response measures for marine pollution accidents.
A Seogwipo Coast Guard official stated, “To ensure the safety management of marine construction vessels, along with the efforts of agencies and related personnel, we will establish an emergency contact system during the inspection period and share marine pollution risk information in case of adverse weather to prevent marine pollution accidents.”
Meanwhile, last year, the Seogwipo Coast Guard conducted marine pollution prevention inspections on three marine construction sites and six mobilized vessels.
