On the 2nd, Chairman Kim plans to start his fourth term by having a lunch box meal with executives at the Federation of SMEs meeting room in Yeouido, discussing his thoughts on the new term and future plans. In the afternoon, he will attend the '3rd Regulatory Innovation Strategy Meeting' hosted by Prime Minister Han Duck-soo in Pangyo, Gyeonggi Province. He also plans to hold a dinner with the Federation’s labor union and employees to strengthen internal cohesion through communication.
Chairman Kim has served as the 23rd and 24th chairman (2007?2014), the 26th chairman (2019?2022), and now takes on the position for the fourth time. He ran unopposed in the 27th chairman election and was unanimously elected by all 364 regular members at the general meeting held on the 28th of last month. In his victory speech, Kim said, "This reappointment is the result of members trusting the efforts made during the past four years and the previous eight years," adding, "I will work hard once again for small and medium enterprises and cooperatives to repay that trust."
He presented his pledges including ▲establishing a system linked to delivery payments ▲improving corporate succession systems ▲labor market reforms such as revising the 52-hour workweek system ▲win-win cooperation between large and small-medium enterprises ▲support for digital and ESG management innovation. Kim’s term will last until February 2027.
Kim set records as the first elected chairman to serve four terms and the longest tenure (16 years). However, rather than celebrating his reappointment with fanfare, the Korea Federation of SMEs is focusing on strengthening its foundation considering the current economic situation. A Federation official said, "We decided not to hold a separate inauguration ceremony on the first day," adding, "We plan to hold a small-scale event next month."
