Seoul City Announces Call for Nominations for Citizen Awards in Model Children and Youth Categories
Discovery and Awards in 5 Categories
Seoul City announced on the 28th that it is publicly recruiting exemplary children, adolescents, and youth in the fields of filial piety and etiquette, volunteer cooperation, hope and sincerity, creative science and arts, and global leadership. Applications will be accepted until the 17th of next month, and selected adolescents and youth in each field will be awarded the ‘Seoul Metropolitan Citizen Award.’
The ‘Seoul Metropolitan Citizen Award’ is targeted at residents of Seoul and is divided by age into ▲Children’s Award (ages 7?12) ▲Adolescent Award (ages 13?18) ▲Youth Award (ages 19?24) ▲Youth Leadership Award (individuals and groups aged 25 and above). The total number of awardees is 114, including 4 Grand Prize winners, 22 Excellence Award winners, and 88 Merit Award winners.
The award is divided by age and category. The 'Children, Adolescents, and Youth' categories are for those who have lived in Seoul for more than one year and are recruited in five fields: filial piety and etiquette, volunteer cooperation, hope and sincerity, creative science and arts, and global leadership. Additionally, the 'Youth Leadership Award' targets individuals and groups who have continuously resided in Seoul for more than three years or have business establishments in the city, and who have contributed to youth protection, development, and guidance.
The common selection criteria across the five fields are individuals who serve as role models in their respective fields despite difficult living conditions, and who act voluntarily and proactively.
To apply as a candidate for the Citizen Award, recommendations must be received from relevant institutions and organizations such as schools and administrative agencies, or from more than 30 local residents. Applications can be submitted in person or by mail to the Youth Policy Division at Seoul City Hall from the 6th to the 17th of next month.
After public recruitment of candidates, on-site verification, and evaluation procedures by next month, the recipients of the Citizen Award will be selected. Those chosen will receive the Seoul Metropolitan Mayor’s Award at the Children’s Day celebration on May 4th.
