On the 27th (local time), Park Yong-in, President of Samsung Electronics' System LSI Business Division, toured the exhibition halls of Chinese companies such as Xiaomi and Oppo, located in Hall 3 alongside Samsung Electronics' pavilion at MWC. President Park said, "In a way, since Chinese companies are also customers of camera sensors, we are carefully examining their products."
Kyung Kye-hyun, President of Samsung Electronics' Device Solutions Division, also visited Oppo's booth to check their technology. President Kyung personally experienced Oppo's computational audio, among other features.
Recently, Chinese companies have been targeting Samsung Electronics by emphasizing cost-effectiveness (performance relative to price) and copycat (imitative product) strategies. Especially in Europe, where MWC is held, according to Counterpoint Research, Samsung Electronics maintains the number one market position, but Xiaomi has overtaken Apple to become second, intensifying market competition. Oppo and Honor, among others, occupied spaces near Samsung Electronics' Hall 3 pavilion at this MWC and exhibited foldable phones that closely resemble the Galaxy Z Fold and Flip series.
