Actress Lee Young-ae has been revealed to have donated 5 million won in political contributions to Jeong Jin-seok, a member of the People Power Party.
On the 25th, the Central Election Commission disclosed the list of donors who contributed more than 3 million won annually to members of the National Assembly last year.
Lee sent 5 million won in donations to Representative Jeong in January last year. Lee's husband, Jeong Ho-young, former chairman of Korea Raycom, is Jeong's nephew.
Lee also rode on the campaign vehicle with Representative Jeong, who was a Saenuri Party (now People Power Party) candidate during the 2016 general election.
Jung Tae-young, CEO of Hyundai Card, also donated 5 million won to Representative Jeong. Doctor and broadcaster Esther Yeo and Ham Ik-byeong each donated 5 million won to Park Hyung-soo, a member of the People Power Party.
Lee Jae-woong, founder of the portal site Daum and CEO of Socar, sent 5 million won to Jang Hye-young, a member of the Justice Party.
Jin Joong-kwon, a professor at Kwangwoon University, donated 5 million won each to the Justice Party Central Committee and Justice Party member Ryu Ho-jeong. Jin is the only person who made a high-value donation of over 1 million won to Representative Ryu.
Lee Choong-sang, a standing commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission appointed last year as a nominee of the People Power Party, donated 5 million won each to the People Power Party Central Committee and representatives Kwon Seong-dong, Yoon Chang-hyun, and Seo Il-joon, reaching the personal political donation limit of 20 million won.
Lee, a former professor at Kyungpook National University Law School, served as chairman of the Judicial Reform Committee in President Yoon Seok-youl's presidential campaign in November 2021.
The practice of active lawmakers supporting their fellow lawmakers, known as 'pumasi,' continued.
People Power Party member Park Dae-soo donated 5 million won to fellow party member Eom Tae-young, and Park Deok-heum donated 5 million won to Kim Eun-hye, presidential chief secretary for public relations.
In the Democratic Party, Representative Jeong Seong-ho donated 5 million won to Im Jong-seong, and Representative Choi Jong-yoon donated 5 million won to Jang Kyung-tae.

Meanwhile, according to the 'Status of Fundraising by National Assembly Members' Support Committees,' Democratic Party member Kim Nam-guk ranked first last year with 330.14 million won in donations. Second place was Democratic Party member Lee Won-wook with 322.69 million won. Among ruling party members, Jang Je-won ranked third with 321.03 million won, receiving the highest amount of donations.
