Following a series of accidents including a water outage caused by a valve failure at Deoknam Water Purification Plant, a water pipe leak during urban railway construction, a hot water boiler explosion, and a high-altitude vehicle overturning accident, and with the arrival of the thawing season, Seo-gu launched safety inspections on disaster-vulnerable facilities, construction and demolition sites, and public facilities.
Seo-gu formed joint public-private inspection teams consisting of officials from relevant departments and experts in architecture, electricity, fire safety, and civil engineering to inspect the safety and maintenance status of facilities such as cultural and assembly venues, retail, religious, transportation, medical, and lodging facilities, and to verify compliance with related legal regulations.
On the 22nd, Deputy Mayor Kwak Hyunmi visited the Yangdong Bongbong Bridge construction site and the Nongsong-dong mixed-use residential and commercial building construction site to check the progress and safety status, urging, "Please join forces to proactively eliminate safety risk factors that may occur in disaster-vulnerable facilities and realize Seo-gu as the number one safety district."
Seo-gu plans to ensure that follow-up measures such as repairs, reinforcements, and tracking management are implemented for the deficiencies and improvements identified during this inspection.
