Promotion of 7 Major Pledges, 15 Policy Tasks, and 34 Detailed Projects
Busan City will hold the "Presidential Busan Regional Pledge Support Meeting" jointly hosted by Busan City and the National Balanced Development Committee at 10 a.m. on the 24th at the Komodo Hotel.
The "Presidential Regional Pledge" was finalized by the Presidential Transition Committee in May 2022, announcing the new government's vision for the local era and confirming regional pledges for 17 metropolitan cities and provinces. Busan City's "7 Major Pledges and 15 Policy Tasks," including the "Attraction of the 2030 Busan World Expo," were decided as presidential regional pledges.
The meeting will proceed with a comprehensive report on the "Presidential Regional Pledge," expert presentations on priority regional pledges, and a comprehensive discussion to explore promotion strategies and implementation plans.
The city selected the following as priority regional pledges: "Attraction of the 2030 Busan World Expo," "Expansion of infrastructure such as transportation for the successful hosting of the Expo," "Early construction of Gadeokdo New Airport," "Relocation of KDB Industrial Bank," and "Establishment of a Southeast Region Vehicle Semiconductor Value Chain," and will listen to policy proposals from experts in each field.
Additionally, the city will convey requests and cooperation matters to central government ministries for 34 detailed projects and ask the Balanced Development Committee for close coordination to ensure smooth promotion of regional pledges.
Furthermore, a continuous management system will be established to guarantee the implementation of regional pledges, including securing national funds for 2024 and reflecting them in central government plans.

Lee Su-il, Director of the Administrative Autonomy Bureau, stated, "Until now, there was concern that the momentum for pledge promotion might weaken due to the absence of a central agency overseeing the presidential regional pledges. However, we have high expectations as the National Balanced Development Committee takes the first step in supporting regional pledges by listening to voices from the local field." He emphasized, "We ask for continuous interest and support from central ministries by establishing a national task-level implementation inspection system for the presidential regional pledges and regularly reporting on the progress."
