[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] On the 23rd, Foreign Minister Park Jin met with Ponomarenko, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Korea, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building and stated, "Korea will actively participate in the international community's efforts to contribute to ending the war in Ukraine and restoring peace."
At the meeting, Minister Park said, "We will continue to provide possible support, focusing on humanitarian aid to Ukraine."
He also expressed, "I sincerely offer my condolences to the Ukrainian community in Korea suffering due to the war situation in their homeland. Amid prospects of a major Russian offensive, it is concerning that it remains difficult to find even a glimmer of hope for resolving the situation."

He introduced that recently, The Telegraph evaluated Korea as the only Asian country belonging to the top two groups in the assessment of countries supporting Ukraine.
Ambassador Ponomarenko emphasized, "I sincerely hope that this year will be decisive and victorious for our country and peace-loving nations worldwide." He added, "As a global pivotal state, we expect Korea to participate in efforts to bring permanent and just peace to Ukraine, ensure international community security, and restore respect for the UN Charter and the rules-based international order."
Meanwhile, in the afternoon, Minister Park had a phone call with Ambassador Kim Hyung-tae of Ukraine and encouraged the embassy staff who have successfully carried out overseas citizen protection activities over the past year. He urged them to continue to ensure the safety of Korean residents abroad.

On the same day, Deputy Spokesperson Lim also responded to a question during a back briefing about the government's stance on the one-year mark of the Ukraine war, stating, "As soon as the war broke out, the government announced its position that this war is a clear violation of international law." He added, "We are also reviewing additional support measures, focusing on humanitarian aid."
