Ministry of Education to Hold Credit Bank System and Self-Study Degree Conferment Ceremony on the 24th
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The Ministry of Education and the National Institute for Lifelong Education will hold the 2023 Academic Credit Bank System and Self-taught Degree System degree conferment ceremony on the National Institute for Lifelong Education's YouTube channel on the 24th.
Started in 1997, the Academic Credit Bank System is an open lifelong learning system that recognizes various learning and qualifications inside and outside of school as credits and awards degrees equivalent to those from junior colleges or universities.
The Self-taught Degree System, introduced in 1990, is an alternative bachelor's degree awarded to adult learners who have difficulty entering university, such as career-interrupted women, employees, soldiers, and inmates, upon passing a nationally administered exam.
This year, a total of 37,100 people obtained degrees under the Academic Credit Bank System and the Self-taught Degree System in the name of the Minister of Education. Among them, 36,588 received bachelor's or associate degrees through the Academic Credit Bank System, and 512 received bachelor's degrees through the Self-taught Degree System.
In 26 years since its introduction, the Academic Credit Bank System has surpassed one million cumulative degree recipients, reaching 1,022,508.
On this day, the Ministry of Education and the National Institute for Lifelong Education will award the top prize, excellence awards, and special awards to 30 exemplary outstanding learners, including those with excellent academic performance and outstanding learning cases.
